Privacy Policy

ScholarBits is operated by the Foresight Institute of Research and Translation (“we”, “us”, “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use scholarbits.com (the “Service”), how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

The short version: ScholarBits is designed to work without an account. Most tools require no sign-in and we do not track you by default. Where you do sign in or subscribe, we collect only what is necessary to provide that service.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information you give us

• Account data — If you create a free account or subscribe, we collect your name and email address via Google Sign-In.
• Payment data — Subscription payments are handled by Polar.sh. We receive confirmation of your plan and billing period but never store your card details.
• Newsletter sign-up — If you subscribe to our newsletter, we store your email address.
• Tool input — Text you paste into tools is processed in your browser or sent to an AI model to generate output. We do not store your tool input.

1.2 Information collected automatically

• Server logs — Standard web server logs (IP address, browser user-agent, pages visited) may be retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes.
• Session data — When you are signed in, a secure session cookie is set to keep you authenticated. See our Cookie Policy for details.

1.3 What we do not collect

• We do not use third-party analytics (no Google Analytics, etc.).
• We do not serve advertising or sell your data to advertisers.
• We do not build behavioural profiles.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide and improve the Service
• Manage your account and subscription
• Send transactional emails (account, billing, password reset)
• Send the newsletter you opted into (you can unsubscribe at any time)
• Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
• Comply with legal obligations

3. AI Processing

Some tools use AI models provided via OpenRouter. When you use an AI-powered tool, your input is transmitted to the AI provider to generate a response. Please review OpenRouter’s Privacy Policy for how they handle data. We do not use your input to train models.

Free-tier AI features use a client-side AI integration. No input data passes through our servers for these features.

4. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share data only with:

• Polar.sh — payment processing for subscriptions.
• OpenRouter — AI model routing for premium AI tools.
• Google — if you sign in with Google, Google processes your authentication.
• Law enforcement — where required by applicable law.

5. Data Retention

• Account data — retained while your account is active; deleted within 30 days of account deletion.
• Server logs — up to 30 days.
• Newsletter email — until you unsubscribe.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data; object to or restrict processing; and request a portable copy of your data. To exercise any of these rights, email us at hi@scholarbits.com.

8. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect any changes. Material changes will be communicated via the email address associated with your account where applicable.
